OPENING OF PİRİ REİS STATUE

21 JUNE  2011 KURUÇEŞME CEMİL TOPUZLU PARK

A scholar from his university, ITU, invited to the opening ceremony of Piri Reis statue,  wrote  to celebrate  Canel Başer: “Süleyman the Magnificient made great injustice to our great sailor  and geographer, Piri Reis, and you,  bright people of the Republic,  corrected it. Congratulations!”

In addition, the winner of the contest  was a young scupltor; Mimar Sinan University student  Murat Özver, and Canel BAŞER says  “I am delighted to be instrumental in promoting a young sculptors’ art to  the world and I wish him all the best!”
